+ Full Description
Tean is set in an elevated position above the beautiful golden sands of Portreath Beach, with fabulous views of the surrounding cliffs and coastline. Portreath (meaning “sandy cove” in Cornish) is a pretty coastal village on the north coast of Cornwall which lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has a popular surfing beach and is centered around an old harbour. Many of the modest older properties have been and continue to be replaced with much more ambitious homes, thereby raising the profile of this sandy haven. The village has a vibrant community and good facilities including Portreath Community Primary School, a small supermarket, 3 churches, a baker, two pubs and a bar and restaurant. There are various sports and leisure facilities available in the area including indoor swimming pools, squash, badminton and outdoor bowls. Six golf courses are found within the local area, the Tehidy Park Golf Club within a mile, as well as several riding centres. Portreath is also the north point of the coast-to-coast bike trail, which leads to Devoran on the Fal Estuary.
Communication links in the area are excellent. The A30 is just 2.5 miles from Tean. There is a direct rail connection to London Paddington from Camborne or Truro Railway Station. Private jet services are available at Land’s End Airport (24 miles away), whilst there is an ever-increasing range of domestic flights (including to London Heathrow) and international flights available from Cornwall Airport Newquay (29 miles away).
The house is approached from The Incline through wooden gates onto a block pavior drive. There is parking for 3/4 cars or for boat storage.
The house is centred around a fabulous kitchen-dining room with bi-fold doors giving beautiful light and access to the terrace which has outstanding views over Portreath harbour and beach. The kitchen has an integrated Neff cooker with other integrated appliances and a central island/breakfast bar with dining area beyond. Double doors open from the kitchen into the sitting room has a newly fitted wood burning stove and bi-fold doors onto the terrace. Off the kitchen double doors open into the conservatory, which in turn has doors onto the terrace and gives access to the garage and studio above.
On the first floor there is a spacious master bedroom with en suite and bi-fold doors with Juliet balcony. Also at this level is a further en suite bedroom with bi-fold doors onto a terrace with impressive views. On the ground floor there are two further bedrooms (one en suite) and a family bathroom.
Accessed from the drive is the double garage with electric doors and an external staircase up to the rear giving access to the office/studio above.
From the beach car park follow the road up the hill towards Gwithian, bearing left at the top. Take the second road on the left (before Gwel an Mor resort), and continue ahead for about 200m. Turn left onto the “The Incline” and follow this steep road all the way to the bottom where the road will then climb back up to a row of houses. Tean is the last of these at the end of the lane.
