Tean is set in an elevated position above the beautiful golden sands of Portreath Beach, with fabulous views of the surrounding cliffs and coastline. Portreath (meaning “sandy cove” in Cornish) is a pretty coastal village on the north coast of Cornwall which lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has a popular surfing beach and is centered around an old harbour. Many of the modest older properties have been and continue to be replaced with much more ambitious homes, thereby raising the profile of this sandy haven. The village has a vibrant community and good facilities including Portreath Community Primary School, a small supermarket, 3 churches, a baker, two pubs and a bar and restaurant. There are various sports and leisure facilities available in the area including indoor swimming pools, squash, badminton and outdoor bowls. Six golf courses are found within the local area, the Tehidy Park Golf Club within a mile, as well as several riding centres. Portreath is also the north point of the coast-to-coast bike trail, which leads to Devoran on the Fal Estuary.

Communication links in the area are excellent. The A30 is just 2.5 miles from Tean. There is a direct rail connection to London Paddington from Camborne or Truro Railway Station.
